Created in the late 1920s, the Blumlein mic technique is a stereo recording technique that lets you use two mics to accurately capture the sound of your performance and room. By positioning two figure-8 mics at 90-degree angles, one on top of the other, you get a great-sounding stereo field that also captures the room ambience. The Grace Design SB-BL Blumlein array makes this tricky microphone arrangement easy to set up.
